Once upon a time… interactive fairy tales

For my first attempt at an interactive piece, I learned some basic coding and how to use an Ardunio. My idea was to use the available Arduino sensors to connect physical actions to well-known fairy tales. I built an interactive panel and animated three shorts to be projected when each action set off the sensor. The results are reminiscent of a children’s museum exhibit.

This project has a case study available here.

the animations

A time lapse of creating the parts of each animation in Procreate. By using just 2 brushes, I wanted to create a strong, simple, and consistent style.

the final product

In the end this project combined programming, a little electrical engineering, carpentry, vinyl cutting, a trip to Lowe’s, animation, and projection.
